The title "Grand Prix" has been in existence since the very early days of Motorsport in the world. In New Zealand this premier New Zealand race was recognised in 1950 on the Ohakea Air Force Base circuit.

New Zealand Formula Ford
MotorSport NZ’s longest running championship continues as a stepping stone for young drivers making the leap from kart racing. Race craft is honed, race lines learnt and single seater driving skills refined. This class prepares drivers to step up to Toyota Racing Series or NZ Touring Cars, before looking offshore for international opportunities. Many a top racing star made their start in Formula Ford and we see this continuing for many years.
Formula Ford start at Timaru on 14 November 2015 then Christchurch on 16-17 January and Teretonga on 23-24 January 2016. They then head north to Taupo on 6-7 February, Manfeild on 13-14 February and finally Pukekohe on 16-17 April 2016.
